Soil Analysis and Soil Testing Services You Can Trust
MVTL delivers fast, reliable soil laboratory analysis to support informed agronomic decisions. Our accurate results help guide nutrient management, soil health practices, and crop planning so you can improve yield potential, manage input costs, and support long-term soil productivity.
Discover Our Comprehensive Soil Testing Capabilities
In today’s agricultural landscape, accurate soil data is essential for maximizing crop performance, controlling input costs, and protecting long-term land value. MVTL’s soil analysis services provide the practical insights needed to plan confidently for each growing season and support sound agronomic recommendations.
Soil Fertility Testing
Our soil fertility analysis measures key nutrients and soil properties that directly influence crop performance.
What we test includes:
- Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium
- Secondary and micronutrients
- Additional soil chemistry indicators
Why it matters:
Fertility data supports precise fertilizer recommendations, helping prevent over-application, reduce input waste, and improve return on investment while maintaining crop yield potential.
Soil Health Testing
Soil health testing evaluates the physical and biological characteristics that influence nutrient cycling, water retention, and root development.
What we test includes:
- Organic matter
- Soil respiration
- Biological activity indicators
Why it matters:
These results support management decisions related to cover crops, tillage practices, residue management, and long-term soil productivity.
Soil pH Analysis
Soil pH testing determines whether soil conditions are acidic, neutral, or alkaline.
Why it matters:
pH directly impacts nutrient availability and crop uptake. Accurate pH data supports lime application decisions and helps create optimal growing conditions.
Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) Testing
SCN analysis detects the presence of soybean cyst nematodes and determines egg counts in soil samples.
Why it matters:
SCN data helps guide crop rotation strategies and resistant variety selection to protect yields and reduce long-term yield loss.
Pesticides and Herbicide Residue Testing
This analysis identifies residual chemicals remaining in soil from previous applications.
Why it matters:
Residue testing helps diagnose unexplained crop injury, emergence issues, or growth problems and supports informed planting decisions for sensitive crops.

Turn MVTL’s Soil Data into Smart Recommendations
Testing with MVTL provides the reliable data needed to make confident, science-backed recommendations. Whether you are advising on fertility programs, soil health improvements, or crop management strategies, our results help translate laboratory data into practical field decisions.
Here’s how our data guides smart recommendations:
Support Smarter Input Management
- Apply Fertilizer Strategically – Recommend exactly what’s needed based on measured nutrient levels
- Adjust Soil pH – Guide lime applications to improve nutrient availability
- Incorporate Organic Matter – Determine when cover crops or compost additions will make a meaningful impact
Improve Soil Performance
- Increase Soil Aeration – Suggest practices like reduced tillage or organic amendments to improve soil structure
- Minimize Soil Erosion – Identify at-risk fields and recommend conservation practices that keep soil in place
- Improve Water Management – Improve infiltration, reduce runoff, and manage irrigation effectively
Plan for Long-Term Productivity
- Crop Rotation Planning – Build rotation plans that protect future yields and minimize setbacks
- Treat Contaminants and Residual Chemicals – Diagnose plant growth issues like poor emergence or plant injury to prevent yield loss
- Enhance Soil Biodiversity – Promote healthy microbial communities and soil organisms for long-term soil vitality

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you handle large batch submissions during peak season?
MVTL staff logs in samples by customer submitting samples, grower, and field. This keeps data together when customers receive data.
Do you have agronomists or certified crop advisers on staff?
MVTL has 3 agronomists on staff who are certified crop advisers.
How are results delivered? Can it be integrated into my data platform?
MVTL links data to most cloud-based software programs. When submitting samples, use the software’s lab submittal form. This enables us to link data directly to the farmer’s field.
How do you ensure accuracy and reliability in your results?
MVTL participates in a number of lab proficiency testing programs and follows approved testing methods. Test samples are received through these programs and results are compared to known results. Accuracy of testing methods are also insured by using known check samples throughout the testing process.
Do you provide sampling supplies?
Yes, MVTL provides sampling supplies at no charge.
What does my report mean?
MVTL offers three report formats to fit your needs. The bar-graph report displays results on a scale from very low to very high, highlighting areas that may be susceptible or low and providing nutrient application recommendations. Spreadsheet and PDF reports are also available, allowing you to view data from multiple sample points on a single sheet for easy comparison.
How much do I need for my sample?
When submitting samples, approximately 2 cups of soil are required to insure a good representative sample.
